Operating in a Game Production -vocational unit, 30 competence points

Operating in a Game Production (Pelituotannossa toimiminen) is a single vocational unit that is a great introduction to digital game making.

  • Application period: 14.11.–7.12.2023
  • Language test dates: 11.–14.12.2023 (2-hour slot/applicant)
  • Course dates: 15.1.–17.5.2024
  • Starting time: January 15th, 10:00 a.m.
  • Working time: Mon–Fri 9–16

We will send you an invitation to a language test by 8.12. with text message and email.
The results for student selection are announced to the applicants with text message and email on 21.12.2023.

For whom?

Those interested in 2D and 3D graphics, game engines, and working in the games industry. Former knowledge is not needed, but skills in drawing, painting, sculpting, game design or coding are helpful.

You need to have a Basic education certificate or General upper secondary education certificate or similar.

Operating in Game Production (Pelituotannossa toimiminen) vocational unit, 30 competence points 

The goal of the unit is to learn how to operate in different roles in a game production. The taught subjects are:

  • Basics in 2D game graphics
  • Basics in Unity 3D game engine and game coding (C#)
  • Basics in game and level design
  • Knowledge on working in the games industry
  • Basics in 3D modelling
  • Basics in 3D graphics in game engine

Software in use in the vocational unit:

  • Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Unity 3D, Autodesk MAYA, Blender 3D

Duration of the training

15.1.–17.5.2024 (week 8 is free from teaching)
Starting time: 15.1., at 10:00

Working times: Mon-Fri, 9–16

Price of the training

The training is free of charge.

Student selection

Student selection is based on

  1. Written and oral English language test, which is assessed with CEFR standards.

2. Basic education certificate or General upper secondary education certificate or similar.

If candidates have equal points based on criteria 1. and 2., the selection is done with a draw.


The results for student selection are announced to the applicants by text message and email on 21.12.2023.
